Inland waterways
Port of Zwolle is located on the North Sea- Baltic Corridor. The Port of Zwolle docklands therefore have excellent inland waterway links with Germany, Europe and the Baltics. The regular services to and from terminals in Rotterdam connect Port of Zwolle with the rest of the world.
Ever more companies recognise the benefits of inland shipping. Entrepreneurs are looking for ways of improving sustainability and efficiency. Inland shipping is very much in line with this: it is a sustainable mode of transport. Large volumes of goods can be transported by water at a low cost and with a low CO2 emission per tonne. Besides being sustainable, inland shipping is also a reliable and flexible mode of transport. It is a good alternative to the increasingly congested roads and the related costs.
Why choose Port of Zwolle?

- Handling and transshipment of various types of cargo.
- Processing of cargo within the region.
- Tailored solutions.
- Strong collaboration between entrepreneurs, government, and education.

Ships
The Port of Zwolle docks are accessible to class Va vessels.
- Class Va vessels
- Inland waterway and coastal vessels of up to 2,5000 tonnes with a maximum draught of 3.5 metres.
Port of Zwolle is developing constantly. In the future, thanks to the new lock in the Afsluitdijk, Port of Zwolle will be able to accommodate larger ships and short-sea vessels. This will be possible once the lock at Korwerderzand has been widened and deepened and the waterways towards Kampen and Meppel have been modified. This will open up opportunities for companies established in the port area.
