Alumax Boats signs contract for the Royal Netherlands Navy
Alumax Boats b.v. has been commissioned by the Ministry of Defence to build two multifunctional aluminum vessels for the Royal Netherlands Navy. These vessels will be deployed for various tasks on Amsterdam’s inland waterways and the IJ, with their home base at the Marine Etablissement Amsterdam.
The new vessels, referred to as "director's vessels," are designed for a wide range of applications. In addition to transporting passengers, including VIPs, the boats will also serve as training vessels, support for the water police, secure transport for protected individuals, and towing or relocating pontoons and other non-motorized vessels. Measuring 14 m x 3.5 m, the boats can accommodate up to thirteen passengers, including crew.
In line with national and local policies, the vessels will operate fully electrically, contributing to a sustainable future on the water. Delivery of these boats is scheduled for the end of spring 2025.
Remko Germeraad, Director of Alumax Boats, expressed his pride in this prestigious contract:
“This contract marks a new milestone in the history of Alumax Boats. I am proud of the trust the Royal Netherlands Navy has placed in us, and I am confident that our team will deliver on that trust.”
Patrick Bekken, Commander of the Marine Etablissement Amsterdam, and Remko Germeraad, CEO of Alumax Boats, signed the contract on Monday.
With this contract, Alumax Boats strengthens its position as a leading builder of high-quality, multifunctional vessels, with a special focus on sustainability and quality.
