Alumax Boats to build five dive safety vessels for the Royal Netherlands Navy

Follow-up order confirms confidence in Meppel-based shipyard

Alumax Boats has been awarded a contract by the Dutch Ministry of Defence to build five aluminum workboats for the Royal Netherlands Navy. These so-called dive safety vessels will be deployed to safely assist military divers entering and exiting the water during operations and training exercises.

This order marks the second defense-related project in a short period for the Meppel-based aluminum boatbuilder, which is currently completing two so-called director’s vessels for the Naval Establishment Amsterdam.

The dive safety vessels, each measuring 8.5 meters and equipped with a cabin and outboard engines, will feature various systems to support diver safety. Due to the operational nature of the vessels, no further technical specifications can be disclosed.
